Actually the fault lies with http://dualsearch.atsites.net. The other provider I created, for FuzzFind, doesn't have this problem. I guess I should swap out the backend of the DualSearch provider for another. But which?

> Do quotes work at your end?

Ouch, no they do not, same failure as you describe in both IE and FF.

Anybody know how to pass those through?

Yes, 2008 minus 1996 is 12, not 14 :-). Ironically, I was studying mathematics back in 1996 when I bought that issue of Byte Magazine. I guess I need to go back to school!

Hi Jon. Interesting post - I started to really care about OpenSearch during my work on http://weblivz.com.

Although I was considering pre-defined searches (so they build complex syntax, merge RSS/Atom output and are ready when you next check) - i was also very interested in two things (i posted some thoughts at [1]).

1. How to make it easier to search these other sites.

2. How to get RSS/Atom out from them (this week Google said it's in the works).

Of course it occurred to me that with all the complexity (and there is quite a bit to talk about when you go into merging the datasets) i could provide a "real time" OpenSearch interface directly over these normalized sites.

That could then fit your plug-in idea :)

cheers,
steven
