Hello Jon,

There's a more or less generic term for "that kind of engineering" - "social design".

I think Josha Porter coined the term:

Jon - The quote about volunteers being less interested in open ended commitments is dead on. I see this at my church all the time. People are happy to help with specific tasks, but ongoing commitments are another thing entirely.

Hi Jon, just listened to the podcast of this interview last night, I have to say it was amazing. I'm not normally so gushing, let me assure you, but the depth of insight and the ideas were fantastic. Had a feeling the whole way through that this is really the bleeding edge of the music industry and content production in general that John is working at, and it was fascinating to learn about it.

Ipod as local cache - simple, but really makes sense. Couldn't you reverse that though? How about the day when we're able to use our pda/ipod whatever as a server to broadcast our own content from?

Thanks for another great interview anyway, really enjoyed it.
